Glenavy Family Practice actively supports undergraduate medical teaching. From time to time we may have undergraduate medical students visiting the practice.
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
Our practice pharmacists are employed by the GP Federations. They work part-time in the practice. They help manage queries and medication reviews.
District Nurses manage care within the community, leading teams of community nurses and support workers, as well as visiting house-bound patients to provide advice and care such as palliative care, wound management, catheter and continence care and medication support.
The practice accesses district nursing services from the South Eastern Trust, Northern Trust and Southern Trust.
Counselling is a type of talking therapy that allows a person to talk about their problems and feelings in a confidential and dependable environment. Referral to Counselling is via the GPs.
